Empowering the Next Generation through Hale Opportunities.

At 17 years old, Nancy Gutierrez Cordova from Lima, Peru has already made a significant difference in the lives of more than 500 young people through her Hale Opportunities project, an initiative that was born to reduce educational inequality and provide leadership tools to vulnerable communities. Inspired by her participation in the ODYLP USA 2023 exchange program, Nancy has led this effort with a clear vision: to empower young people and open doors to opportunities previously considered unattainable.
A journey of inspiration and action
Nancy's spirit for social work was ignited during her volunteering at "Operation Sack" in Seattle, USA, where small actions, such as preparing food for people in need, showed her that with empathy and humility it is possible to generate sustainable change. However, her commitment was consolidated as president of the Women's Commission in the Lima Summer School Parliament, where she led initiatives to promote gender equality.
The Creation of Hale Opportunities
The idea for Hale Opportunities arose in response to the need to connect Peruvian youth with educational and personal development opportunities. Initiatives such as the “This Is 4 U” project, which offered educational webinars in collaboration with experts and entities such as the U.S. Embassy in Peru, have transformed the perspectives of many teenagers. In addition, the personalized mentoring program “Hale Winners” has helped young people identify and take advantage of educational opportunities, empowering them to pursue their dreams.
A transformative impact
Under Nancy’s leadership, Hale Opportunities has changed the perception of hundreds of teenagers about their own potential. Many participants have obtained national and international scholarships, and others have developed the confidence to face challenges and achieve goals that previously seemed out of reach. For Nancy, the greatest achievement is seeing how these young people become agents of change in their communities.
Looking to the future
With an ambitious vision, Nancy plans to expand Hale Opportunities nationally and internationally. This includes developing new online educational programs, establishing strategic alliances with educational institutions, and reaching out to rural and remote communities. For Nancy, each step represents an opportunity to sow hope and build a more equitable future.

A sus 17 años, desde Lima, Perú, Nancy Gutierrez Cordova ya ha marcado una diferencia significativa en la vida de más de 500 jóvenes a través de su proyecto Hale Opportunities, una iniciativa que nació para reducir la desigualdad educativa y brindar herramientas de liderazgo a comunidades vulnerables. Inspirada por su participación en el programa de intercambio ODYLP USA 2023, Nancy ha liderado este esfuerzo con una visión clara: empoderar a los jóvenes y abrirles puertas hacia oportunidades antes consideradas inalcanzables.
Un viaje de inspiración y acción
El espíritu de Nancy por el trabajo social se encendió durante su voluntariado en "Operation Sack" en Seattle, EE.
